Carrefour Spain has launched the application ReciclaYa, a mobile application unique in the world that allows its customers to receive information on how to properly recycle their products and obtain points for each recycling action. These points can be exchanged afterwards for discounts on their next purchase.

The mobile application is very simple to use. Simply by scanning the barcode on the shopping receipt all purchased products appear in the application. Thus, each time a product is consumed, customers can use the application to obtain information on how to sort the generated waste items and know the closest recycling bin.

This tool has the sponsorship of BNP Paribas Cardif and the collaboration of featured brands like Campofrio, Coca Cola, Danone, Font Vella, Lanjaron, Mahou San Miguel, Mars, Mondelēz, Calidad Pascual, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Solán de Cabras and Unilever.

The uniqueness of this application lies in the system behind it. A system that uses the Internet of Things to provide unique digital identities to the products that are purchased and that allows the tracking of each product unit throughout its life cycle. The system combines the capabilities of the EVRYTHNG smart products platform with the service of information and rewards for recycling developed by recycl3R and allows increasing the consumer engagement and their loyalty with simple information about recycling and rewards for good recycling habits.
